In what would be an incredible season, the Everett High School basketball team opened with a 54-42 defeat over Highline last night. Coach Norm Lowery’s Gulls were taller than usual this year. The all-senior starters were 6-foot-2 Henry Mathews and 6-foot-5 Dick Weeks at forward; Roger Bruett, 6-5 at center, and Dick French, 6-1, and Ron Larson, 5-11 at guard.
Riding regally in the annual Kiddies parade today were King Tommy Anderson, 7, and Queen Bonnie Collins, 11. Costume winners were Violet Bright, Eric Holt, Vickie Ledray, Madeline Bisen and Laurie Curfman. The parade, which went north on Colby Avenue from 32nd Street to Everett High School, was perhaps the largest ever.
