50 years ago (1961)
Friends and business acquaintances of the three men were being apprised this week of the formation of a partnership by Albert Hascal, George Hornung and Frederic Sjoholm. The firm of certified public accountants, which would be located at 3019 Colby Ave., would be known as Hascal, Horning &Sjoholm.
Applying their trade in reverse, the Marysville Volunteer Fireman were starting a big fire tomorrow. In the interest of home safety, the local smoke-eaters were burning all dried Christmas trees that were brought to the site, Sixth and Quinn, east of Asbery Playfield.
25 years ago (1986)
Benson’s Camera at 1611 Hewitt advertised a develop and print special. They gave two prints for the price of one with each 135 m.m. of film. No coupon was necessary and the offer was good until the end of January.
Sage’s Sewing and Vacuum Center was now open at 1828 Broadway. They sold and serviced all vacuum cleaners, sewing machines, specializing in Oreck vacuums and Baby Lock sewing machines and sergers, and sewing notions and parts. They also had an office in Mountlake Terrace.
