50 years ago (1961)
Sadie Schwartz came up with a score of three on yesterday’s windblown “most birdies” competition of Everett Golf and Country Club’s ladies play to top the first division. Three players, Lola Williams, Teresa Almvig and Wilma Thorne, each had four birdies to tie for leadership of the second flight. Scottie Schutter scored a pair to lead the third division.
Mayor Jack Bennett of Lynnwood announced the appointment of Glenn D. Shadduck as Civil Defense director of Lynnwood, succeeding Charles M. Randall. Shadduck was a physics and biology teacher at Everett High School and had training on National Science Foundation scholarship in the field of radioactive biology and nuclear physics.
25 years ago (1986)
Occupying new positions were Timothy J. Wonderly, assistant manager of the Everett Pacific Hotel; Gordon H. Shewfelt, assistant vice president at the main Everett branch of First Interstate Bank of Washington; and John Bowman, president of the C.M. Ambrose Co.
The American Society of Women Accountants, Everett Chapter No. 86, was presenting a tax seminar at Nendels Motor Inn on Pacific Avenue. Kathi Naff and Susan Sanders had more information on registration.
