50 years ago (1961)
League of Mercy of Everett Salvation Army would remember shut-ins this Christmas with handmade slippers filled with goodies. Among those working on the project were Capt. Mildred Hoogstad, Home League Secretary Bertha Drake, Audry Guichard and Mildred Fuge.
On a contract amounting to about $1 million, Associated Sand and Gravel Co. of Everett was about finished with its part of the huge federal Science Pavilion for Century 21, next year’s Seattle World’s Fair. Associated had supplied the pre-stressed concrete components to construct the six buildings and all outer walls were of this material or of glacial aggregate rock.
25 years ago (1986)
Marina Village on W. Marine View Drive was a port of many callings. Located there were Anthony’s Homeport, Bacchus By The Bay, Cutter’s Cove, Harbour Winds, Marina Village Eats &Treats, Marina Village Inn, Off Broadway Galley Gifts, Pelican Pete’s, Sea Charters Tackle and Marine and Yachts West.
Applications were being accepted for the board of directors of the Lake Stevens School District. Those interested could submit a written statement of their interests, qualifications and goals to board president Craig Thompson at the school administration offices.
