50 years ago (1961)
For superior accomplishment in his line of work at Claremont Station in south Everett, Les Solie was given an award by William R. Harris, assistant superintendent of mails in Everett Post Office. Included were cash, a certificate, service pin and letter of congratulations.
Another successful young businessman was Peter Van Dalen who had delivered the Everett Herald in the Eastmont district since July 1958. During this time he built his route from 49 to 176 subscribers. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Van Dalen.
25 years ago (1986)
The Herald was looking for a few good trees. They wanted to photograph special Christmas trees, with bows, prisms and ornaments that had been passed generation to generation. Besides old-fashioned trees they were hoping to find high-tech and theme trees.
FTD Florists had perfect Thanksgiving “Autumn Harvest” bouquets. Members were City Floral, Everett Mall City Floral, Flowers By Adrian, Morris the Florist and Schultz’s Floral in Everett; City Floral of Snohomish and The Green House in Snohomish; Hopkins Floral in Stanwood; Flowers By George in Arlington; and Wight’s Garden &Floral in Lynnwood.
