50 years ago (1961)
Faye Irwin’s French tapestries were on display at the Zonta Club-sponsored Silver Tea benefiting the Christmas Basket Clearance Bureau in the Herald Auditorium. The unusual tapestries, worked with needle and thread, had been shown in many galleries on the West Coast and as far away as Pittsburgh, Pa. Irwin would also have paintings by her late husband, Jack.
Everett Exchange Club paid its monthly tribute to outstanding young people in Everett’s secondary schools at its weekly luncheon in the Monte Cristo Hotel. Tony Ward-Smith of radio station KQTY was the day’s speaker and helped hand out the awards. Recipients were Carolyn Wieldraayer, Ann Goerl, Roger Bruett and Eric Youngstrom.
25 years ago (1986)
Youngsters (kindergarten through grade six) in Ann Bistline’s class at Children’s World child care center in South Everett raised more than $2,500 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation by securing pledges for a variety of physical activities.
Dave Cluphf of Snohomish and Mark S. Rasmussen of Edmonds were among 20 students from Greenville, Ill., College listed in the 1987 edition of Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
