50 YEARS AGO (1960)
Don Bartholomaus, chairman of the Children’s Christmas parade, was shown some new elves uniforms by Mary Tutland and Penny Sheraton. All young people, 14 and under, were invited to take part in the competition for $200 and free theater tickets to the Roxy and Everett theaters.
America’s struggle against communism was to be the topic of a talk given tonight in Monroe’s Frank Wagner Auditorium by Lt. Cmdr. William Deller, Everett, U.S. Navy Reserve. The gathering, open to the public, was a joint meeting of the Monroe Lions and Kiwanis clubs.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
Young children at the Everett and Edmonds libraries recently were thrilled by the storytelling of Margaret Martin, a children’s librarian who had been sharing the joy of reading with young people for several years.
John Henken Chevrolet Inc., the Arlington import dealer, was having a November white sale. They had four-wheel-drive trucks — new and used, new front-wheel-drive Sprint, Spectrum, Nova, Citation, Cavalier and Celebrity models. They also offered 60-month financing, little or no cash down and no payments until 1986.
