50 YEARS AGO (1960)
When the Edmonds School District opened the school year Sept. 6, it would probably be the county’s largest. It placed behind Everett last year because Everett Junior College was included among the enrollment. Another first for the Edmonds District was the opening of its second high school, Mountlake Terrace.
Open for business tomorrow would be a new post office at Second Avenue and Main Street in Edmonds. Postmaster Otto Sorenson and his postal employees were moving from the old building near Fifth and Main streets.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
Several Everett city employees received plaudits for saving the taxpayers money. Receiving checks were Don Miller and Gary Allen. Traffic engineer Ron Cameron revamped the city’s traffic patterns. Also, City Clerk Donna Rider celebrated her birthday, the same day as her husband, Don, the county’s Navy homeport coordinator.
Howard and Betty Erickson were celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary with an open house at Everett First Baptist Church. Richard and Darleen Cruise, celebrating their 35th anniversary, were honored at a party.
