50 YEARS AGO (1960)
Lottie Stoker Miller, a Wilson School teacher for Mukilteo School District, was retiring at the close of this school year after 44 years of teaching. The second-grade teacher planned to return to college to complete her master’s degree, but planned to travel first.
A heavy fire loss was expected as a result of an early morning blaze at Samon’s Electrical Supply Co., 2201 36th St. in Everett. Fire Chief Earl Brower said damage to the building itself would run about $1,000, but a much larger monetary loss was the inventory.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
More than 75 boats went on display Friday at Everett’s Marina Village as part of the waterfront community’s celebration of the opening of the 1985 boating season. The On the Water Boat and Recreation Show included about 45 boats exhibited afloat and another 30 boats on land.
The Snohomish Health District would begin giving tests for AIDS next week, director Claris Hyatt announced. They would given free to any person who asked for them. At the same time, the Sno-Isle Blood Bank announced it was testing blood samples for such possible contamination.
