50 YEARS AGO (1960)
Everett Police Sgt. John Hovde, past president of the Washington Police Officers Association, was elected to a three-year term on the board of trustees at the organization’s annual convention last weekend in Chelan. A second Everett officer, patrolman Del Thompson, was elected sergeant-at-arms of the state group. They also voted to change their name to Washington Peace Officers Association.
Mr. and Mrs. Hank Gaul of Lake Stevens were the first customers at the new B&M Frontier Village shopping center. Janice Boggs checked out their items. Other shops would be opened each week until Frontier Village was a complete shopping center.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
Mike Smith maneuvered his powered wheelchair through an obstacle course at the Access Hi-Tech Fair at Everett Community College. The fair was sponsored by the college and the Washington Coalition of Citizens with Disabilities. Smith served as chairman of the power chair competition.
Cascade Auto Radio Sales at 4826 Evergreen Way had a sound idea for Father’s Day. It was the analog tune cassette receiver with auto reverse, power fader, separate bass and treble control, two-channel preamplifier output and dynamic noise reduction.
