50 YEARS AGO (1960)
“Arsenic and Old Lace,” a farce that ran for months on Broadway, was being performed by Everett High School thespians next week at Civic Auditorium. Included in the cast who would appear in the theater-in-the-round performances were John Finlan, Nancy Rude, Wayne Wade and Phil Vincent.
Details of Marysville American Legion’s stag party May 21 would be determined at the regular meeting of Post 170 in the local Legion Hall. Proposals for participation in the community’s Memorial Day service would be heard, according to Commander A.E. “Red” Lunstedt.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
Donald Coates, president of the Mukilteo School Board, never finished high school himself. He thought if there had been an alternative high school, he might have attended it. Therefore he was supporting an effort for one in Mukilteo. Now the district was getting requests from Mariner students seeking transfers to alternative high schools in Everett, Lynnwood and Edmonds.
A tribute was being planned for George Carberry, administrative assistant at Marysville School District for the past five years, who was retiring after 27 years in education. It would be at the Everett Pacific Hotel.
