50 YEARS AGO (1960)
More than 200 key people representing the various geographical areas of the state attended the First Governor’s Conference in Community Mental Health, held in Olympia. Attending from Snohomish County were Harold Silvernail of Edmonds and Doris Jones, Margaret Kepley and Bob Shelledy of Everett.
A contest was recently staged by Multiple Listing Service, at which Walter Hooven was president. Gene Clay won first in sales, Mel Schank won second in sales, and Wilbur Johnson and Dave Wiggins tied for the most listings.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
The Lake Stevens girls claimed the Western Conference AA softball playoffs at Monroe and gained a top seeding for the Northwest District tournament in Bellingham. One of the stars was Jackie Bercot.
The second edition of the Snohomish County Executive Horse Council’s Trail Directory of Snohomish County listed locations and directions to more than 30 trails, logging roads and utility rights of way throughout the area for the 20,000 horses and pleasure riders in the county.
