50 YEARS AGO (1960)
After more than 40 years of going to Alaska for summer fishing, Paul Martinis remained on the dock, his purse seiner Dreamland being skippered by his son, Paul Jr. Others heading north were boats captained by brother Tony Martinis, Matt Martinis, Matt and Andy Marincovich, and Joe Lucin.
After 31 years of teaching music, Robert Kelley was retiring from Everett schools at the end of the current school year. He had been director of band music in the grade schools. Everett High School band director Jack Potter on behalf of the band presented Kelley with an engraved traveler’s clock.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
GTE Phone Mart at the Everett Mall had just the right Father’s Day gift for the “big boy” of the house — “big toys for big boys.” The Quasar 5-in-1 telephone television was a versatile package with black-and-white TV, AM/FM radio, digital display clock and a snooze alarm.
June 1 would be Reno Night at the Rosehill Community Center at Third and Lincoln in Mukilteo. Games to be played were blackjack, craps, chuck-a-luck and beat the dealer. All proceed were to benefit the Rosehill Center.
