The front page of the paper had a large photograph of Richard Nixon; the Republican Party picked him as its nominee for president by a runaway vote.
Playing the lead as Elliot Nash in “The Gazebo” was Henry Winter, who received good reviews for his part in the three-act comedy playing at Snohomish County Little Theater in Marysville.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
Several businesses had opened at Everett Mall Plaza. They included the 78,000-square-foot Top Foods, Longneckers Restaurant, Roundtable Pizza, Fortunate Life Center, Premium Shop, Fran’s Optical and Jenco Cleaners.
A three-alarm fire last night destroyed a two-story warehouse in a Maltby industrial complex. It took firefighters from Fire District 7 about 20 minutes to bring the fire under control. Chief Richard Eastman said the cause of the fire was not immediately determined.
