50 YEARS AGO (1960)
A fellowship time honoring the Rev. and Mrs. Harold Nelson was planned for tomorrow evening at Delta Community Baptist Church. The Nelsons had just completed their 11th year of ministry at Delta Baptist.
Maynard E. Parks, a former Everett resident, was appointed labor relations manager for the Chicago, Illinois and Pacific Railroad Co. with headquarters in Chicago. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Parks of Marysville, he was a graduate of Everett High School and the University of Washington.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
City councilman Carl Gipson was re-elected chairman of the Everett Industrial Development Corp. Bill Langus was named vice-chairman of the board and council chairman Ray Stephanson was elected secretary-treasurer. The seven City Council members were on the board of the corporation that worked to assist industries in locating here.
South Everett residents were to get a new branch library in April following City Council action last night. The council agreed to pay $35,088 for a portable library building to be installed on a city-owned lot adjacent to Fire Station 6 at 9500 Evergreen Way.
