50 YEARS AGO (1960)
George Kocman was elected president of Snohomish County Boys Club. Named to serve with him were Dr. Joe Weber, first vice president; Moe Michelson, second vice president; Dr. Bill Lucas, treasurer, and Orvie Lang, secretary.
Newlyweds Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Richard “Dick” Padovan were to be honored at a reception in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Youngquist. The former Jane Lynn Sheraton spoke her wedding vows with Dick Padovan in a ceremony at Bethany Temple with the Rev. W.F. Marton officiating.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
Thanks to Sheila Elshaug, a student in Jim Brigleb’s sixth-grade class at Lake Stevens’ Hillcrest Elementary School, the school had a new Apple II computer, donated by Buntron Instruments of Lynnwood. It was all part of a class project asking for a donation of money or equipment.
The Snohomish County Solid Waste Division was closing its Bryant landfill located on Grandview Road. They were considering three alternate locations to site a new facility. A transfer station would replace the Bryant Landfill and the Lake Goodwin Landfill, which was closed in 1982.
