50 YEARS AGO (1960)
Mr. and Mrs. Otto S. Lindblom announced the engagement of their daughter, Judith, to Karl Duane Romaneschi, son of Mr. and Mrs. Karl K. Romaneschi, all of Everett. Both were 1957 graduates of Everett High School and were juniors at Washington State University.
Marjorie Crull welcomed her husband, Edmund, home after he survived the sinking of the Liberty ship Valley Forge in the South China Sea on Dec. 31. Crull, radio officer aboard the stricken ship, was one of seven men who stayed aboard the reef-bound vessel until it was determined there was no hope of saving it.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
Air Force Airman Karl M. Kellogg of Arlington had graduated from an air crew life support course at Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois, and had been assigned to Robin Air Force Base in Georgia.
Registration for the Snohomish Pirates Wrestling Club would be Jan. 11 at Snohomish High School. Registration was open to beginning, intermediate and advanced wrestlers who were at least 7 years old, but not past the sixth grade. Practices were twice weekly and the cost was $20 per boy.
