50 YEARS AGO (1960)
Olive Keppler, Longfellow School teacher, was awarded an honorary life membership by the Everett City PTA Council at a no-host breakfast attended by about 60 recipients of honorary life memberships from Everett schools. She was honored for her 20 years of active work and membership in PTA.
Richard B. Johnson, attorney, had recently opened law offices on the second floor of the B&M Shopping Center on Highway 99 S. Johnson was a graduate of Washington State University with a degree in business administration and of the University of Washington Law School.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
Councilman Bob Overstreet and Councilman Ray Stephanson, along with city administration, had been negotiating with Viacom Cablevision for improved television performance in the city of Everett. The upgraded system, which would be in place by next summer, would have 35-channel capability with 28 channels in use.
A Cascade League all-star team featuring such names as Herald Player of the Year John Van Dyke and Jeff Neumeister of King’s, Jeff Hanson of South Whidbey and Nick Klungel of Bellevue Christian captured the AAU Junior Olympics regional basketball title by edging a team from the Kent area.
