50 YEARS AGO (1960)
James Crawford, Monroe Scoutmaster, demonstrated a first aid compress for Harold Rothgeb, leader of Snohomish Troop 38, as the two made preparations for the adult Scout “showando” event at Lake Conner. Rothgeb was chairman of the “showando” trail in which adults would be shown how to do various things in connection with Scouting.
Eagles pinochle tournament winners were announced at Everett aerie’s meeting this week. O.R. Charlton won first place, followed by Charles Parker and Ray Kemmett. Thirty players participated in the tourney that took place on a series of three Tuesday nights.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
It wasn’t unusual now to find bald eagles soaring over areas of Western Washington, but two of these — unlike most others — were city dwellers living in Everett’s Forest Park. Since they were among but a handful of urban eagles, city and state officials were taking steps to make them welcome.
Silver Lake Christian School on 132nd Street SE in south Everett was having an open house. The school offered Bible-centered education to students in kindergarten through eighth grade. It was a ministry of Silver Lake Chapel.
