50 YEARS AGO (1960)
Verna Young, a well-known local photographer who specialized in child and pet photography, achieved national recognition recently with the appearance of an article concerning her work in the January issue of The Professional Photographer, a publication of the professional photography industry.
An overflow crowd of members and guests of the Marysville Moose Lodge enjoyed a program presented Saturday evening featuring Hawaiian and Japanese dancing by 9-year-old Vickie Kay Wells. The little star, who is of Japanese ancestry, was adopted and brought to the United States by Sgt. and Mrs. J.B. Wells of Paine Field.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
Steve J. Gilstrap of Snohomish was appointed to represent American Service Bureau-Bodimetric Profiles, a national insurance service firm.
Snohomish County servicemen, all members of the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colo., took part in a recent NATO-sponsored exercise in the Army’s return of forces to Germany. They included Mark E. Anderson of Sultan, Master Sgt. Donald F. Tellenaar of Darrington, Spc. Michael D. Stevens of Edmonds, Spc. Jeffrey S. McBroom of Stanwood, and Cpl. Patrick E. Brown of Lake Stevens.
