50 YEARS AGO (1960)
Appointment of Raymond A. Reigers as supervisor of the Everett area was announced by Western United Life Insurance Co. of Seattle. A graduate of Western Washington College, Reigers was a school teacher at South Junior before entering the insurance business.
Tempting Lenten dishes would be featured in two public cooking demonstrations presented by PUD in the auditorium on California Street. The demonstrations would be conducted by Carol Baker of Darigold Dairy Products. Clara Johnson, PUD home service director, was assisting.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
Ken and Ruby Knudson had returned from California, where they met up with their daughter, violinist Connie Grantsweg, who was on a monthlong tour with the Radio Symphony Orchestra at Berlin. They met in Pasadena and traveled together up to coast to concerts in Santa Barbara. Grantsweg was a 1978 Everett High graduate.
Everett’s tire fire might soon be little more than a bad memory. The final remnants of the blaze had diminished considerably this week, nearly six months after it first raged through millions of discarded tires, Fire Marshal Walt Cooper said.
