50 YEARS AGO (1960)
Bert Burghduff of Everett Fish Co. brought a crab that the Methodist Men’s Club at the First Methodist Church of Everett, was to use for a public crab feed. Viewing the tempting crab were secretary and president of the club Ira Swander and Bob Johnson.
Old Guard Post No. 2100, Veterans of Foreign Wars, was burning its mortgage on its building at 2711 Oakes Ave. built in 1946. Old Guard Post got its start in Lake Stevens in 1946. A capacity crowd of 300 was expected for dinner, program and small fire.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
Judy Erickson tested a sample in the Everett crime laboratory. Crime scene investigation was becoming more sophisticated. Michael Grubb of Snohomish, a criminalist in a Seattle lab, said his work was like piecing together a 1,000-piece puzzle.
Four new softball fields would be in use this summer and four other fields for soccer and football would be ready for play in the fall under a playground construction project at Marysville-Pilchuck High School. The fields were expected to see more use than the school itself.
