50 years ago (1960)
The family of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hicks, 1319 Casino Road, Everett, was honoring them on their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday at the home of Mrs. Hicks’ sister, Mrs. K.E. Brown, in Centralia. Earl Hicks and Clara Shroads were married in Callaway, Neb. They moved to Centralia about 10 years later and since retirement had made their home in Everett.
United Theaters announced the season reopening this evening of the popular Sno-King Drive-In Theater, located on the Seattle-Everett Highway. Como J. Rockey was continuing as manager of the theater. “Some Like It Hot” was playing.
25 years ago (1985)
This coming Sunday was the 75th anniversary of the Camp Fire organization and the start of Camp Fire Week. Celebrating anniversaries were Roy and Marilyn de Soto, and Lowell and Dolene Posey.
Snohomish County Fire Marshall Lyle Cyrus urged people in rural areas to be careful with fires. The dry weather had resulted in an average of five brush fires a day beginning this week. Fire destroyed an old barn near Oso and a storage shed in Sultan.
