50 YEARS AGO (1960)

Mud Lake in the newly annexed Madison district might soon have a new name after action by the Everett city council. One name suggested for the small body of water was Beverly Lake. City commissioners, looking into the procedure for lake naming, were also considering several other proposals.

A family fallout shelter was to be erected at the home of Snohomish County Civil Defense director Harold Peterson at 2318 Virginia Ave. Work would begin next week. The survival station would be an 8×10-foot family-size underground fallout shelter at a cost of $1,300. It would be completed in March and open for public showings and educational tours.

25 YEARS AGO (1985)

Everett was the fictional setting for ABC Theater’s “Consenting Adult” tonight. The middle-class family lived in Everett and their son attended the University of Washington. Stars included Martin Sheen, Marlo Thomas, Barry Tubb and Talia Balsam. All of the Everett scenes were filmed in Vancouver, B.C.

Jay A. Davis of Everett and John P. Fletcher of Mountlake Terrace, both Navy recruits, had completed an eight-week hull maintenance course at the Naval Technical Training Center at Treasure Island, Calif.
