50 YEARS AGO (1960)
Dr. John F. Fiorino of Everett was leaving tomorrow for Chicago to attend the National Conference on Medical Licensure, where he would lead a panel discussion on standards for disciplining medical practice. He was on the Washington State Board of Medical Licenses.
John W. Winter took over this week as manager of the J.J. Newberry store here, replacing Norm Christianson. Winter was originally from Bellingham and came to Everett from the Bellevue store. He and his family were making their home at 710 Dexter Ave.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
A mile-long stretch of Snohomish River bank on Smith Island might become a city park if negotiations between the city and the state were successful. The area now had the Department of Natural Resource’s developed boat launch, which included two ramps and a large parking lot. There also were picnic spots with tables and fireplaces.
The Everett Area Chamber of Commerce was holding a seminar on marketing and promoting business in the Bookstore Conference Center at Everett Community College. Speakers were Roger Christensen, Frank Cooper and Mary Fears. Those interested in attending could contact Tom Lamoureux.
