50 YEARS AGO (1960)
Four Everett High School musicians and five vocalists were slated to participate in the Washington State Music Educators convention. The musicians were Doug Spencer, Ken Noreen, Rene Allen and Alice Nastri. The vocalists were Jean Henry, Betsy Reichmann, Gary Hatle, Ken Putnam and Keene Strobel.
North Junior High School Talent Show winners were announced. First place vocal awards went to Pat Dickson, Sharon Gillespie, Janet Cunningham, Margi Johnson and Leslie Lindquist. First place in acts and skits winners were Judy Solie, Vernita Christensen, Nancy Bell, Debbie Lloyd and Margaret Rowley. Jim Nelson was first for instrumental, and acrobatic dancer Dixie Martin scored first in dancing.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
Everett City Council members, driven by Ed Morrow and Bill Langus, voted to ask the Department of Transportation to exclude 19th Street as an access to the proposed Navy base on the waterfront. The other routes would moved the traffic along W. Marine View Drive from the north or south.
Lynnwood could celebrate winning the Northern Division AA boys basketball crown. Some stars of the team were Dan Anthony, Troy Oliver, David Jones, Jeff Goit and Daryl Wright.
