John McDonald wrote an article on Marv Harshman, head basketball coach at the University of Washington. Growing up in Lake Stevens, the high school gym across the street became Harshman’s home away from home. He used to come into the Everett YMCA to play. Later he attended the University of Washington, worked at Weyerhaeuser Mill C, attended Pacific Lutheran and served in the Navy during the war. Harshman coached at Pacific Lutheran and Washington State before arriving at the UW.
