Several “koffee klatches” would be held by the Presidents Council of the Women’s Clubs, according to Jack Shipley, Everett March of Dimes campaign chairman. They were planned for Manning’s on Colby Avenue, Pardee’s on Broadway and the Alpine Cafeteria in the B&M shopping center.
Henry Mathews, Everett High School basketball and baseball star and son of Mr. and Mrs. James Mathews, was selected Snohomish County Boys Club’s Boy of the Year. He was awarded the citation by Bill Langus, Boys Club president.

Marina Village opened with shops and two fine restaurants — Anthony’s Homeport and Pelican Pete’s.
The stage was set for an extended upsurge in the roller coaster jetliner manufacturing industry, which could mean stable employment at Boeing’s Everett plant for the rest of the decade. Boeing’s ace in the hole might be its ability to offer a large family of 767s, catering to various segments of the medium-sized jet market.
