50 YEARS AGO (1960)
George A. Hansen was named technical director of Weyerhaeuser Co.’s Everett kraft mill, it was announced today by John M. McEwen. He succeeded McEwen, who recently was named manager of the firm’s Everett Branch, Pulp and Paperboard Division.
Public Utility District No. 1 of Snohomish County recently completed construction of the Lake Stevens substation. It was located south of Lake Stevens on E. Hewitt Avenue just north of the old Greenwood School. Everett historian Alvin Pettersen said the line it replaced dated back to 1912.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
Leeon and Virginia Aller of Snohomish would recount their trip to Central America at a meeting of Sno-Isle Retired Teachers at the American Red Cross building in Everett. Also speaking would be Providence Hospital Administrator Carl Munding.
The first day of spring was coming and City Floral in Everett was joining other members of Allied Florists Association in several Puget Sound cities to observe the event by handing out free daffodils. Member shops displaying the white neon logo sign would have free daffodils available, according to Cindy Falceto, president of the association.
