50 YEARS AGO (1959)
Norma Rice, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arden Rice, 2309 McDougall Ave., was among four students honored by the faculty of Western Washington College of Education at an all-college assembly. A senior, she was majoring in language arts and planned to become a primary teacher.
To accommodate those who had not done their Christmas mailing, Everett’s main post office and its Claremont branch would be open the next two Saturday afternoons, it was announced today by Postmaster Hennessey.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
Jean Lyon Disney, a 1970 home economics graduate of Everett Community College, was selected as conference information assistant in the office of vice provost and director of university extension and summer quarter at the University of Washington. She received a bachelor of science degree from Washington State University and a master’s degree from the UW.
Two high school seniors were honored as vocational students of the quarter by Sno-Isle VocationaL Skills Center. They were Melony Olson, a Lake Stevens senior studying restaurant operations, and Rina Batterson, a Cascade senior enrolled in the dental assisting curriculum.
