Tea etiquette instructor Susan Springer, trained and certified by the Protocol School of Washington, D.C, presents “Heavenly Tea,” at 1 p.m. Sunday at Hattie’s Tea Room.
Springer’s demonstration includes the history of Victorian and British tea traditions. She will use authentic antique tea accessories throughout the course.
Learn the correct ways to prepare and serve tea, discover tips for finding specialty tea foods and accessories locally and learn to present a spot of tea anytime of day.
The $35 fee includes the presentation, a full afternoon tea and a fully illustrated pamphlet.

Companion cookbook: Two nonprofit organizations, FETCH! (Free Exercise Time for Canines and Their Humans) and WAIF (Whidbey Animals Improvement Foundation) present “Culinary Tails,” a cookbook featuring recipes from the people of Whidbey Island.
Recipes are paired with pictures and pet stories from the authors.
“Culinary Tails” features recipes for all meals in sections titled “Cat Nips” for appetizers; “Trusted Companions” for soups, salads and side dishes”; and “Sit! Stay! Dig In!,” which features favorite entrees from pet owners.
Looking for animal treat recipes? “Beggars Can Be Choosers” highlights concoctions for felines and canines alike. There’s even an entry for a birthday cake for your tail pal.

The seventh annual epicurean festival features tastings, winemaker dinners, wine and food seminars, and special culinary events.
Experts in food and wine, lecturers, sommeliers, connoisseurs, chefs, bakers, cooks and restaurateurs converge at Whistler to share secrets with all types of food and wine aficionados.
Presenters include Japanese chef Hidekazo Tojo, owner of Tojo’s Restaurant; director and vice president of Fetzer Vineyards, Dennis Martin; and David Scholefield, one of Canada’s foremost wine authorities.
