“American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest tells “Access Hollywood” today that he was stunned by the news that rocker Chris Daughtry was voted off on Wednesday night’s results show. On the live show, Seacrest seemed a little rushed when announcing that Daughtry got the axe.
“I was shocked when I was told. I wanted it to resonate on the air. I really did,” Seacrest tells Nancy O’Dell in the “Access” episode that airs tonight. “I wanted the audience at home to be shocked that he was leaving.”
As for the remaining contestants, Seacrest said, when asked, that he thinks gray-haired bluesman Taylor Hicks will sell lots of albums once the show is over.
“You got 30 million people watching a television show,” Seacrest said. “He’s got a following.”
“Access Hollywood” airs locally at 7:30 p.m. on KIRO-TV, Channel 7.
