Schack Artist of the Year’s Janie Olsen’s “Animal Kingdom” will be on display through April 13. All the entries in the annual student Black & White Photography Contest will be on display in the Emerging Young Artists’ Gallery from March 28 to April 30. Schack classes include drawing, printmaking, basketry, jewelry and metalsmithing, encaustic, painting, fused glass and blown glass. Teen Night is once a month from 6 to 8 p.m., with upcoming events on April 18 and May 16. Each free event includes up to four different hands-on art projects with professional teaching artists for ages 13-18. Hibulb Cultural Center: The interactive displays introduce you to the legacy of the Tulalip people by giving you a historic perspective of the bands that make up the Tulalip Tribes. Student art show: Everett Public Schools and the Everett Public Schools Foundation host its 21st annual middle and high school student art shows. The best work of student artists will be displayed in the foyer of the Community Resource Center, 3900 Broadway, Everett. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. High school art will be displayed April 9-25; middle school art May 6-31.
Solo Asian Painting Exhibition: Hyeh-Yeon Hoffer’s second solo Asian Painting Exhibition will be exhibited at the Rosehill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Ave., Mukilteo from April 6 to June 27. The opening reception is from 6 to 8 p.m. April 11. The community center is open 6:30 a.m.to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Call for youth digital media art: The Edmonds Arts Commission has a new student art exhibit opportunity for its McDevitt Youth Art Display Case in the Frances Anderson Center. The first exhibit, “The Interface Between Art and Technology,” runs June through September. This inaugural show will display the work of several students from Edmonds area schools. Eligible applicants are 14-20 years of age. Youth working in media and digital art, including animation, video, photography, game design and web design are encouraged to apply. Edmonds Community College: From April 1 to June 14, see the annual student art exhibit. The show will feature work created by EdCC students from the Visual Arts Department. The gallery’s “Small Works Show” will be on exhibit through March. The juried show will feature 150 paintings by more than 50 artists from 10 different states. April’s featured exhibit, “Resurrection Inventions” by Anne Prather is on display for the month of April. It includes a wide variety of photographic subjects, as well as unique and colorful computer-generated two-dimensional artwork.

Through May 3, see the artwork of Carrie Milburn, a self-taught artist born and raised in Snohomish County. Her work ranges from bold and colorful to black-and-white, from portraits to abstract. She paints with acrylic on canvas and hand built custom wood pieces. Milburn finds inspiration in rock ‘n’ roll music, ‘80s and ‘90s pop culture and the Pacific Northwest.

In March, see an exhibit of Ann Morris and Kathleen Faulkner, two artists brought together by the tides of the Salish Sea. Morris’ continuing series “Crossings” consists of handcrafted vessels built from natural materials harvested near her home.
