The Sno-King Community Chorale hit it right out of the park on Monday night, during the chorale’s first ever concert performance at Carnegie Hall in New York as reported in
The Herald of Everett Sunday.
The chorale had been invited for the first time to sing at Carnegie during “Concert for Peace — Celebrating the Spirit of Martin Luther King, Jr.” The invitation was by composer Karl Jenkins. The chorale performed the U.S. premier of Jenkins’ newest work, “Gloria.”
According to an email sent by the chorale’s conductor and artistic director Frank DeMiero this morning, the evening was amazing with more than 2,500 in attendance at Carnegie and the chorale receiving a standing ovation.
“Gloria, a U. S. premier with the composer in attendance, presented a great soloist and orchestra, an inspiring performance conducted by Jonathan Griffith,” DeMiero wrote.
The Roman Catholic piece “Stabat Mater” was also performed with another choir joining the Chorale in song as a closer.
The Sno-King Community Chorale, 54 strong, “in typical fashion, sang beautifully with precision and passion.”
“I am so very proud of our Chorale! The rehearsals were marathon sessions preparing for what was a concert of a life time!” De Miero said.
“The Gloria” proclaims the importance of peace. This vocally demanding selection will have it’s West Coast premier at 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. March 19 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6215 196th St. SW, Lynnwood. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors. For more information go to Sno-King Community Chorale or call Kit Hanski at 425-673-1242.
