SNOHOMISH – “Glacier National Park,” a series of computer-generated art created by Roy Hughes of Snohomish, is on display this month at the Snohomish Public Library.
The artist spent a month this past summer in Glacier National Park as artist-in-residence and created a series of digital block prints in a style similar to silkscreen travel posters created in the 1920s and ’30s.
Using a computer program, the artist creates a layer of color for each color in the scene, resulting in a poster effect of bold colors. There are 20 works in the show.
Hughes will give a free slideshow talk entitled “Hiking and Painting in Glacier National Park” at 2 p.m. Sunday at the library, which is located at 311 Maple Ave.; 360-568-2898.
In Edmonds: Artist Win Bainbridge has an exhibit of multimedia and watercolor paintings on view this month at the Edmonds Public Library.
The longtime Edmonds resident is an award-winning painter whose work has won numerous honors. In 2001, she created the official poster for the Edmonds Arts Festival.
Her work is seen in private and commercial collections and she is active in the Pacific Northwest art scene as a member of Northwest Watercolor Society, Women Painters of Washington, Northwest Collage Society and International Society of Experimental Artists.
The library is located at 650 Main St., Edmonds; 425-771-1933
Holiday show: The annual holiday show at The Sisters restaurant in the Everett Public Market is on view.
This year’s lively mix of art in many mediums includes more than 50 works by 23 local artists. Lyussy Hyder curated the show. Hyder is a painter who operates Art Boutique, a small gallery located in the Public Market.
“It was a blast to work at The Sisters,” Hyder said. Unlike her pocket-sized gallery, the restaurant has big walls and high ceilings, plenty of room to show off art.
“The whole show has a light holiday spirit, lots of flowers, landscapes, bright colors,” she said.
The Everett Public Market is located at 2804 Grand Ave., Everett. The Sisters is open weekdays, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
