The Seattle engagement of the musical “Doctor Dolittle” has been canceled and a production of “The Sound of Music” will take its place at The 5th Avenue Theatre in November. The tour of “Dolittle” was shut down by the producers due to lack of ticket sales, according to the online version of Playbill magazine.
A new production of “The Sound of Music,” which was planned for the 2006 holiday season by The 5th Avenue, has been fast-tracked to play the theater Nov. 29 through Dec. 18. Subscribers and non-subscribers who purchased individual tickets for “Dolittle” can use them for the replacement show on the same date. Tickets, $19 to $71, are on sale at Ticketmaster, 206-292-2787.
