Home to dome: Live exotic butterflies, more than 200, and “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” designers will land in the Tacoma Dome for the Tacoma Home &Garden Show through Sunday.
More than 700 exhibitors will bring their products and ideas for your perusal. Local experts like Ed Hume and Ciscoe Morris will offer seminars, and visitors can tour garden and home displays.

Admission is $9 for adults, $7 for seniors (62 and older) and $5 for children age 6 to 16.

Order seedlings: The Snohomish Conservation District is taking orders for tree and shrub seedlings until Feb. 10.
Each year, the district sells the seedlings for wildlife habitat, reforestation, wind/visual screens and erosion control purposes. Various varieties of trees, groundcover and shrubs are still available.
Pre-ordered plants will be available at the Monroe Fairgrounds on March 3 and 4 during the District’s annual sale.

Be a tour guide: The Washington Park Arboretum is seeking guides to lead outdoor tours for its Adult Tour Program.
Tours are offered from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Guides are asked to commit to two shifts per month for a period of six months.
Those interested can attend an orientation from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 27.

Saplings school: Washington Park Arboretum is offering training for guides in its Saplings School Program.
Program guides lead kindergarten through 12th graders in the outdoor environmental and science education program at Washington Park Arboretum.
Programs are offered from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:15 through 1:45 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Sapling guides are asked to commit to one three-hour shift each week for 10 weeks in the spring.
Each spring, the Saplings School Program serves more than 2,000 students throughout the Puget Sound area.
Those interested can attend an orientation from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. March 13.

Free workshops: The Arlington Garden Club offers a series of workshops during its monthly meetings from 10 to 11:30 a.m. the second Saturday of each month.
The workshops, “How to Turn Your Thumb Green,” include a program by master gardener Marsha Hicks on landscaping with drought tolerant plants on Feb. 11; Priscilla Johnson discusses dividing perennials on Match 11. Horticulturist Michelle Clark presents a program on do-it-yourself garden design on April 8.
Workshops are held at the Arlington Boys &Girls Club, 18513 59th Ave. NE, Arlington. A $2 donation is requested.
