Get organized: Goodwill is partnering with organizing consultants Eliminate Chaos and IKEA to help people organize their kitchens and donate to Goodwill what they don’t need or want any longer. A seminar and donation drive will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the Ikea, 600 SW 43rd St., Renton.

Patrons will have the opportunity to make donations at a temporary Goodwill station located in the IKEA parking lot.

The station will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Items accepted include reusable kitchen and household items as well as clothing, toys and books.

Eliminate Chaos, a business that provides organizing seminars as well as residential and business organizing services, will offer a free seminar and demonstration on organizing your kitchen from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday.

For information, call 877-448-3446 or visit www.seattlegoodwill.org.

Share your DIY project: Producers of the new Home and Garden Television show “Look What I Did!” are searching for local do-it-yourself projects to feature.

They’ll be filming shows in the Seattle area in January. To apply, e-mail a description of the project to Amy Turner of Weller/Grossman Productions at aturner@wellergrossman.com.

Gardening fair: Can’t wait until spring? Sky Nursery is hosting a gardening fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 28.

The free event features many activities for gardeners, including product displays and demonstrations. Landscapers and representatives from local garden clubs will be on hand to answer garden and project-related questions.

Sky Nursery is at 18528 Aurora Ave. N., Shoreline. For information, call 206-546-4851 or visit www.skynursery.com.

Home to dome: Live exotic butterflies, more than 200, and “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” designers will land in the Tacoma Dome for the Tacoma Home &Garden Show Feb. 1 to 5.

More than 700 exhibitors will bring their products and ideas for your perusal. Local experts like Ed Hume and Ciscoe Morris will offer seminars, and visitors can tour garden and home displays.

A complete list of speakers and events is available at www.tacomahomeandgardenshow.com.

Admission is $9 for adults, $7 for seniors (62 and older) and $5 for children age 6 to 16.

For more information and directions to the Tacoma Dome, call 253-756-2121.

Fabric fanciers: Check out a Web-based company called Textile Arts featuring Scandinavian designs from Marimekko and Ljungbergs.

The former has had a cult following in this country since First Lady Jackie Kennedy started wearing some simple summer shifts made of the Finnish fabric in the early ’60s. The latter, a Swedish firm, has been screen-printing textiles by hand since 1949, and was introduced to the U.S. market just two months ago through Textile Arts.

Textile Arts, based in Sag Harbor, N.Y., now carries up to 300 patterns, sold by the yard (and, unlike many companies, will sell as little as one yard). They also sells frame kits to make wall hangings with the cotton fabrics. The site has terrific bargains of discontinued patterns. See www.txtlart.com or call 888-343-7285.
