Zoo Doo happens: Woodland Park Zoo’s annual Fall Fecal Fest offers an opportunity to purchase a load of multispecies feces known as Woodland Park Zoo Doo.

Due to increasing popularity, a drawing for appointments to this fall’s sale will be held. Entry cards will be accepted through Sept. 30. One request may be submitted. Phone orders will not be taken.

To enter, send a postcard to Zoo Doo, Woodland Park Zoo, 601 N. 59th St., Seattle, WA 98103. Include your name, day and evening phone numbers, e-mail address, amount of Zoo Doo you’d like to purchase, and weekday or weekend preference for pick up.

Pick up dates are Oct. 7 through 16. Those selected at random to purchase Zoo Doo will be contacted by Oct. 10.

Prices are $3 to $50. Limit one full truck per person.

Master gardening training: The Washington State University Extension is accepting applications for training in its master gardener program.

The program is taught by faculty, staff and volunteers and is more than 60 hours. Classes begin Jan. 5 and meet Thursdays and two Saturday through March 11.

For information, send a legal-sized, self-addressed stamped envelope with 60 cents postage to WSU Extension Master Gardener, 600 128th St. SE, Everett, WA 98209.

Applications must be received by Oct. 14.

Horticulture basics: Washington State University Master Gardener program presents “Horticulture Basics,” a series of classes for people who work in the green industry and want to increase their horticulture knowledge. Classes are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 5 through March 11.

The fee is $300 and includes training materials. Registration is required. Deadline for applying is Oct. 31.

Applications can be picked up at the Snohomish County Extension office, 600 128th St. SE, Everett, or downloaded at www.snohomish.wsu.edu.

Volunteer guide opportunity: Washington Park Arboretum is seeking volunteer guides for its Saplings School Programs, 90-minute guided education tour of the Arboretum.

Saplings School Programs are offered Mondays through Fridays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:15 to 1:45 p.m. Guides are asked to commit to one three-hour shift per week for 10 weeks in the fall or spring and must attend orientation.

Gardening at Van Valey House: Everett Parks and Recreation is offering eight gardening classes at the Van Valey House this fall.

Classes are from 7 to 8 p.m. and cost $10, unless otherwise noted. Registration required.

Sammamish Steps: KING-5 Television, Pratt Fine Arts Center and MacPherson Construction and Design present Sammamish Steps, the KING-5 Concept Home 2005.

The home is a fully furnished, 4,900-square-foot house in Bellevue that features the latest trends in home design, decorating and building materials.

Tour hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 1 to 6 p.m. Sundays, through Oct. 2. Tickets are available at the door and proceeds benefit Pratt Fine Arts Center.

Sammamish Steps is at 238 W. Lake Sammamish Parkway NE, Bellevue. Parking and shuttling is available at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, 17222 NE Eighth St., Bellevue.
