Alternative house tour: The fourth annual alternative house tour sponsored by the Island County Democratic Committee is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Five houses from Race Lagoon through Beverly Beach to Bayview Road are on the tour. Tickets are $20, $5 for children, and include a buffet reception.

Music in the gardens: Edmonds Rhythm and Blooms Garden Tour features live music and artist demonstrations at seven gardens on the tour held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Tickets for the self-guided tour are $15 and are available at Garden Gear, Emery’s Garden, Espresso Buono, Sky Nursery and the Frances Anderson Center.

Mount Baker tour: The public can view private gardens with panoramic views of Lake Washington and the Cascades during the Mount Baker Neighborhood Garden Tour, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
The six gardens on the tour include traditional landscapes and a garden filled with rare plant specimens from around the world. Many of the gardens are open to the public for the first time, and all are within walking distance of each other.
The tour costs $15 and tickets can be purchased at the following Seattle-area businesses: City People’s, 2939 E. Madison; Artemis Gallery, 3107 S. Day St.; Wells-Medina, 8300 NE 24th St., Medina; Ravenna Gardens, 2201 Queen Anne Ave. N.; and Julius Rosso Nursery, 6404 Ellis Ave. S.

Snohomish tour: The Snohomish Garden Club’s 21st annual Garden Tour features 14 gardens and a marketplace from noon to 5 p.m. on July 24.
Tickets are $12 and can be purchased the day of the tour at the Snohomish Freshman Campus, 601 Glen St. Free shuttle buses provide transportation to the gardens.
Proceeds benefit community projects sponsored by the Snohomish Garden Club.

Everett neighborhood tours: Historic Everett continues its series of self-guided neighborhood tours.
Tour the Lowell neighborhood on Aug. 6 (tickets at Lowell Church, 5218 S. Second Ave.); and Port Gardner/Rucker Hill on Sept. 10 (tickets at Providence Hospital, Pacific campus, 916 Pacific Ave.).
Tickets are $12, $10 for Historic Everett members, and are available from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the day of the events. Tour hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Spartina be gone: People for Puget Sound announce two upcoming volunteer activities.
The seventh annual Skagit Dig Day is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 23 near the Swinomish Reservation in La Conner. Participants will help remove invasive spartina from the area.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 6, volunteers can help remove spartina from Island County as part of the third annual Island County Dig Day.
