Sno-King Meaningful Movies: “Following the Ninth,” a film that explores how Beethoven’s final symphony inspired and sustained movements of liberation, will be shown at 7 p.m. Jan. 13, Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 8109 224 th St. SW, Edmonds. Filmgoers are invited to stay after the film to sing various lyrical inspirations of “Ode to Joy.” Admission is free.
Diversity Film Series: The city of Edmonds’ Diversity Commission inaugural series kicks off at noon Jan. 20 with “A Stray.” Trying to outrun his bad luck, a young Muslim refugee in Minneapolis seems like he just might make it, until he crosses paths with a stray dog. Silent Movie and Pipe Organ Night: “The Sheik,” a 1921 American silent romantic drama film directed by George Melford. Paris-educated Sheik Ahmed Ben Hassan (Rudolph Valentino) provides brides for wealthy Arabs. The high-spirited Lady Diana Mayo (Agnes Ayres), learning that the sheik will be in the city of Biskra, Algeria, playfully decides to disguise herself as a dancing girl to become one of the prospective brides, yet is unable to go through with the deception, much to Ahmed’s amusement. Hearing that Diana will be touring the Sahara Desert, Ahmed abducts her, intending to make her fall in love with him. Show is 7:30 p.m. Feb. 2, Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave. Tickets $17.
