Spring break week for many Snohomish and Island county schools begins March 29.
That means it’s time for local libraries to crank up their activity schedule.
Various branches of the Sno-Isle Libraries will offer movies, trivia games, crafts — even ice cream sundaes.
Find more details on the following free options, plus other possibilities, online at www.sno-isle.org.
Spring break matinees include Pixar’s “Up,” 2 p.m. March 29 at the Snohomish branch, 311 Maple Ave.; and “Adventures of Brer Rabbit,” 3 p.m. April 3 at Darrington.
Several branches will put on activities linked to the “Diary of A Wimpy Kid” movie, which opened Friday. Related trivia and other games are set for 2 p.m. March 30 at Darrington, 1005 Cascade St.; 1 p.m. March 31 at the branches at both Camano Island, 848 N. Sunrise Blvd., and Granite Falls, 815 E. Galena; and 12:30 p.m. April 1 at Stanwood, 9701 271st Ave. NW.
Crafts provide kids with tangible results of a fun learning day. Among the week’s many craft sessions are letterboxing workshops at 11 a.m. March 31 at Lake Stevens, 1804 Main St., and 1 p.m. April 1 at Snohomish; age limits vary by branch.
Next up at Lake Stevens are drop-in days for making pine-cone bird feeders on March 30, butterfly pouch necklaces on April 1 and garden-stake sun catchers on April 2.
The Lynnwood branch, at 19200 44th Ave. W., offers a digital photography scavenger hunt for teens starting at noon March 29.
Participants are to bring a digital camera, meet at the library, then proceed to take pictures around the city as they follow the clues. Details are available by calling 425-778-2148.
A different, inside-the-library hunt is set for 2 p.m. March 31 at Snohomish.
The Snohomish branch also offers “Funny Friday at the Library,” with “madlibs,” ice cream sundaes and slimy activities at 2 p.m. April 2.
