“Da”: This Irish comedy by Hugh Leonard and directed by Eric Lewis follows Charlie home after his father’s funeral where he discovers his father’s ghost refusing to leave the house. “The Other Side of the Closet”: The setting is a high school where five teens grapple with issues of gang violence, gay phobia and peer pressure. The show opens at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 4 and runs two weekends with shows at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 5, 11 and 12 and 2 p.m. Feb. 6 and 13 at Whidbey Children’s Theatre, 222 Anthes Ave., Langley. “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”: Enter the backwards, comic-book style world where an aspiring villain who blogs and sings is actually the hero in this story filled with catchy tunes and wry humor created by Joss Whedon, best known as the creator and showrunner of the TV series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” Shows are 8 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays through Feb. 12 at ACT Theatre, 700 Union St., Seattle. “Great Expectations”: Charles Dickens’ classic novel is adapted and presented by Book-It Theatre and follows the turnabout life of Pip, who goes from orphan to gentleman. “Rock of Ages”: This feel-good love story has a boy and a girl swooning over ’80s hits from Journey, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, Pat Benatar and Whitesnake with eight performances starting at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 8 through Feb. 13 at the Paramount Theatre, 911 Pine St., Seattle. “Vanities”: a new musical produced by the 5th Avenue Theatre and performed at ACT Theatre that follows the life-defining moments of three women whose enduring friendship survives and spans three decades from the 60s to the 80s.
