Beginning Wednesday, a trip to Seattle may include a step into the past … aboard a streetcar.
Seattle initiates streetcar service Wednesday from Pacific Place to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Mayor Greg Nickels hosts an 11:30 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony to launch the new service.
Shops, restaurants, businesses and attractions all along the new South Lake Union line of the Seattle streetcar have teamed up on a series of special events and promotions to celebrate the city’s newest choice for public transportation.
Throughout December, passengers on the new streetcar can earn prizes and discounts. In addition, passengers can ride the streetcar free through Dec. 31.
