SULTAN — The second annual Sultan Safety Fair, formerly known as the Sultan Safety Rodeo, is coming back bigger than before.
The free event runs noon to 4 p.m. Saturday in River Park at First and Main streets.
The 2010 version of the free event, which previously took place at Osprey Park and was known as the Sultan Safety Rodeo, will feature activity on park grounds as well as overhead.
That means helicopter and hovercraft fans will get to see such craft up close on Saturday.
A search and rescue helicopter demonstration is set for 1 p.m., with other displays and demonstrations throughout the day.
“We changed the event’s name from Safety Rodeo to Safety Fair because the event has expanded from a bicycle safety rodeo to include Snohomish County Department of Emergency Management, Search and Rescue, Snohomish County Fire District 5 (Sultan), Washington State Patrol, Sultan School District and much more,” Sultan Police Chief Jeff Brand said.
Fairgoers also can make child ID cards and fingerprint sets, can get child safety restraint information and can bring their bicycles and helmets for inspection.
Young guests may hone their riding skills in a bicycle safety course.
