Summer camp isn’t the only way for kids to have fun in the sun

School’s out. Summer is nearly here.

It’s time for kids to blow off some steam. Here are a few ideas to kick off summer vacation.

1. Fizz it.

You don’t see this kind of science in the classroom.

Mad Science, a education and entertainment company from Canada, will defy gravity and create foam explosions during its “Fizz, Pop, Boom” presentation at 2 p.m. June 23 at the Mukilteo Library, 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd., Mukilteo. Audience participation is encouraged. Registration is not required.

2. Splash it.

Splish-splash in the spray park, get your face painted, play games and make arts and crafts.

The first-ever Splish Splash Summer Bash is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 27 at Comeford Park, 514 Delta Ave., Marysville. A kids concert featuring The Not-Its!, performing family-friendly rock, is scheduled for noon to 1 p.m.

Don’t forget to bring your sunglasses, sunscreen and towels. Admission is free.

3. Enrich it.

It’s never too early or too late for kids to unlock their creative potential.

Registration is now open for this year’s Summer Arts Enrichment Camps, from July 9 to Aug. 10 at the Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 Fourth Ave. N., Edmonds.

Kids ages 7-11 have four camps to choose from — including one covering acting, improv and stage combat, and another on playing the marimba. Each camp is four days long and are in session from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The camps end with a performance for family and friends.

Cost is $250 per child. Summer camp scholarships are available.
