Where: This 2-mile loop walk begins at Forest Park and goes downhill to loop around the pretty Pacific Campus of the Providence Everett Medical Center.
What: Though you can start at either end of this walk, beginning and ending at picturesque Forest Park will give you a peaceful feeling. You can easily access Forest Park by taking 41st Street west from Rucker Avenue. Turn left into the first Forest Park entrance. Go a few hundred feet where you’ll find a small parking lot to your left. (If that’s full, you’ll have to go further into the park for a place.) Next, from the small parking area, take an uphill footpath edged with logs. At the top, veer left at to take a pedestrian overpass to Federal Avenue. Walk north and downhill until you are forced to the left at 33rd Street. Then take a right on Kromer Avenue, a right on Pacific, a right on Nassau and then a right on 33rd, which will take you around the hospital and back to Federal Avenue.
Why: Though Federal isn’t Everett’s fanciest street, it is quite quaint, featuring frequent hilltop views of the Cascades, followed by views of Port Gardner Bay. Homes vary from cute craftsman bungalows to understated brick ramblers, many with views of the mountains. You’ll see plenty of creative gardening and real-time home improvement along the way, including a handful of scattered magnolias set to pop any day now.
