The Everett Chorale has a fun approach — a sort of artistic travelogue of Everett — for its Sunday concert, “We’re Going Uptown.”
A slide show of Everett’s public art is to be accompanied by a variety of popular choral music chosen by director Lee Mathews.
The concert is set for 3 p.m. April 6 at the Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Ave.
For example, Scott Joplin’s “The Entertainer” will provide the theme for the bronze sculpture of dance instructor Mike Jordan, located just outside of the center.
Composer Randall Thompson’s “Choose Something Like A Star” will be performed while the audience views photos of Dale Chihuly’s colorful murals in the same building.
Other choral pieces aim to illuminate the stained-glass windows at First Presbyterian Church and accompany the sculptures on Colby Avenue, which include the fabricated stainless steel “Sails” by Don Anderson and the “Dancing Girls” sculpture by Georgia Gerber.
The Everett Public Library and the Evergreen Arboretum also are stops on the tour of public art, as is Everett Station to see murals by Northwest art legend Kenneth Callahan.
“It’s an informative look at fantastic fine art, treasures on display around the city, and then highlighted by beautiful music,” Mathews said.
