Earth Day is today, and it’s a good excuse for the family to get outside — or stay in — and appreciate our planet.
Here are a few Earth Day events to choose from:
Earth Day at Future of Flight: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.* today at the Future of Flight Aviation Cent
er & Boeing Tour, 8415 Paine Field Blvd., Mukilteo.
All ages are welcome to learn about residential and commercial windmills and windmill fabrication, study a solar-powered car and check out a carbon-fiber car that gets 114 miles per gallon.
Earth Day activities, which include all the aviation gallery exhibits as well, are $5, children 5 and under are free.

Port Gardner Bay Pier Peer Exploration: 7:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at the 10th St. Boat Launch and Marine Park in Everett.
This is a free family friendly way to shed a little light on the underwater world. Visitors can peer into the nightlife of Port Gardner Bay with marine naturalists introducing a variety of creatures attracted by putting lights under the pier. Watch for sea stars, nudibranchs, mussels, fish, shrimp and crabs.
Children ages 5 to 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Dress for the weather and bring your own flashlights.

Earth Day Fest: 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Sno-Isle Co-Op, 2804 Grand Ave., Everett.
There will be food, music, a kids corner filled with activities, local green and sustainable groups providing tips to reduce your footprint on the planet and an organic wine tasting at 3 p.m.
At 6 p.m., the National Geographic film, “Human Footprint” will be shown and popcorn will be served. The 90-minute film shows all the people you will ever know, how much waste you will produce, the amount of fuel you’ll consume and how much you’ve got to pack in during your 2,475,526,000 seconds on earth.

Beach Cleanup and Low Tide Walk: 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Olympic Beach Visitor Station, 200 W Dayton St., Edmonds.
All ages can participate in this free event that combines a beach walk with a talk from a ranger. You can also help clean up the shoreline of Edmonds Marine Sanctuary if you wear gloves and boots and bring an old bucket. Call 425-771-0227 or go www.ci.edmonds.wa.us.
