The Northwest Language Academy Cultural Center continues their Language of Food Series with “A Taste of India,” an event where visitors can experience the flavors and textures of a home-cooked Indian banquet in a traditional setting.
The event kicks off with a one-of-a-kind cooking class lead by Dr. Virender Sodhi and Rekha Sodhi demonstrating the healing herbs and spices of time-honored Ayurvedic culinary traditions.
Afterward, the dinner will be held and the evening continues with a performance of classical dances from Eastern and Southern India, semi-classical music from North India and music and dance in the popular Bollywood form. Performers include Vidyalakshmi Vinod of the Nrityalaya School of Dance, Ishanie Choudhury and Arunima Roy of Odissi Dance.
The India Association of Western Washington and the Indian cultural organization, Pratidhwani, are collaborating in this event.
The cooking class is from 2 to 5 p.m. and the dinner event is from 6 to 9 p.m. April 9 at the Northwest Language Academy Cultural Center, 5023 Langley Road, Langley .
